Publix enters Kentucky market with new store

The grocer said it plans to open five more locations in Louisville, Lexington, and Walton

Publix opened its first store in Kentucky on Wednesday with a new location in Louisville, and the grocer said it plans to open five more locations in Louisville, Lexington, and Walton.

The 55,701-square-foot store at 2500 Terra Crossing Blvd., located in the Terra Crossing Shopping Center, features a drive-thru pharmacy and a 3,200-square-foot Publix Liquors location next door.

The store includes a pizza kitchen and “pours area” with coffee, wine, beer, kombucha, acai bowls and smoothies. The store also offers custom subs, a food and soup bar, bakery, and on-site meat cutters, the grocer announced.

Publix donated 40,000 pounds of produce to the nonprofit Dare to Care, a Feeding America partner food bank, in celebration of the grand opening. The company has donated over 2 million pounds to the nonprofit since 2021.
