ABINGTON, Mass. — Internet grocer Peapod today launched Peapod Pick-Up, a service that will be initially piloted at a Stop & Shop store here. Peapod and Stop & Shop are both divisions of Ahold USA, Quincy, Mass.
Shoppers who order their groceries online through Peapod.com will be able to collect them at the store after choosing a one-hour pick-up time between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. For a limited time, Peapod Pick-Up, normally $2.95, will be offered free of charge.

“Customers can shop anywhere, anytime from a computer, tablet or smartphone and Peapod Pick-Up now provides a convenient alternative to our delivery service,” said Andrew Parkinson, Peapod’s president, in a statement. “We are thrilled to open our first Peapod Pick-Up at the Abington Stop & Shop and look forward to opening additional locations in the future.”
Peapod allows shoppers to create personal lists, read nutrition information online, sort products by price or by nutrition criteria and take advantage of thousands of weekly specials. Stop & Shop customers can shop from a list of items they have bought at their local store simply by entering their Stop & Shop card number online.
