Grubhub expands into grocery

Grubhub is partnering with Mercato, an online marketplace for independent grocery stores

Grubhub is getting into grocery.

The restaurant delivery company is partnering with Mercato, an online marketplace for independent grocery stores, to add over 950 retail merchants to the Grubhub Marketplace.

Grubhub users can already shop hundreds of the retail merchants now, with all merchants becoming available over the next few weeks. Mercatos merchant partners span 38 states and over 320 cities, including New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Boston. Local favorites, according to a release, already include Citarella, Kol Tuv Kosher Foods, Boston Public Market, and Eataly. Grubhub users can choose from delis, seafood and produce markets, bakeries, butcher shops, natural foods stores, and more.

To order, Grubhub users will select the grocery button within the company’s app and on web where all available merchants will populate. All of Mercatos merchant supply will be also be available on Grubhub+, Grubhubs loyalty program that provides access to unlimited $0 delivery on eligible orders.
