Kroger could lure loyalty customers with Disney+

The potential partnership comes a few years after Walmart partners with Paramount+

Kroger and Disney are considering joining forces to offer Disney+, the company’s streaming service, to those enrolled in the grocer’s loyalty program, Kroger Boost, according to a Bloomberg story published on Wednesday. 

The story, based on interviews with unnamed sources familiar with the matter, says Kroger Boost members would get a 1-year subscription to the service under the partnership.

A Kroger spokesperson declined to comment on the matter, and a Disney spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment. 

Kroger Boost, which launched nationwide in 2022, includes free grocery delivery and costs $59 a year or $7.99 a month for next-day delivery or $99 a year or $12.99 a month for same-day delivery. 

The effort to partner with a streaming media service follows in the footsteps of Amazon, which offers the Amazon Prime Video streaming service as part of its Amazon Prime loyalty membership program. 

Similarly, Walmart partnered with Paramount+ in 2022, offering the streaming service to members of its Walmart+ loyalty program at no extra cost.
