Gallery: Convenience in the (Rewe) City

German retail co-operative Rewe Group in 2009 converted 170 stores located in city centers and other high-density locations to a common format under the Rewe City concept. The stores, ranging in size from around 5,400 to 11,000 square feet, offer around 8,000 items with a focus on serving city residents and area work populations, packaged in a modern, contemporary design.

While U.S. supermarket retailers have had mixed success when it comes to small format stores, Rewe City is a more typical offering in Europe where populations and space tend to be denser and retailers have learned from one another.

These staff and company photos show how Rewe City does convenience in the city.
