EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Supervalu on Thursday said it would close its distribution center in Xenia, Ohio, and consolidate the business with a larger facility in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The consolidation, expected to be completed in September, would improve operating efficiency and reduce excess capacity, the company said. The closure of the Xenia facility would impact 120 employees.
Supervalu has operated in Xenia since 1961. The facility services companies including Dorothy Lane Market, Lofino’s Foods and Groceryland as well as Ohio Save-A-Lot stores and independents.

seems like they are laying off about 100 people a wk - seems they should be cutting hq and silly support offices...
newell, field buying, minneapolis - probably could but 90% there and and see no change
the 'operating efficiency' probably means more work load for the fort wayne facility. wonder how many new jobs will be created there since 120 were eliminated in xenia? with the current trend of job eliminations (the 800) recently, and coupled with the timely departure of klug and van helden, my guess will be zero.
Supervalu must have it's former department specific specialists work with instore personel owners & department managers to set department & store goals, drive instore sales, promotions, maintain gross profit goals, control known, plan labor goals, sanitation needs. This will inturn drive Supervalu's wholesale sales.
Should have kept Flemings Massillon Ohio division after their closure. With expansion there they could have consolidate 3 into 1. Short sighted. Is the CEO still on WalMarts payroll?
