IGA Plans 2nd Wounded Warrior Promotion

CHICAGO — IGA said Monday it will again seek to raise funds for the Wounded Warriors Project in its second annual IGA exclusive-brand national cause marketing initiative.

During this national campaign — running in participating IGA stores from Memorial Day Weekend (May 28) through Labor Day weekend (Sept. 3) — several WWP co-branded IGA exclusive-brand products will be available for purchase in participating IGA stores. IGA said it plans to donate up to $200,000 to WWP, which aids war veterans.

In 2011, $120,000 was donated to WWP in the name of IGA retailers. Sales from specially marked cases of IGA exclusive brand water during the promotional period resulted in a $100,000 donation. IGA Red Oval partner Kraft Foods also contributed in IGA’s name an additional $20,000 from the positioning of water-enhancement beverage displays in IGA stores during the promotional period.

For 2012, IGA will again make available specially marked cases of IGA bottled spring and drinking water, and new this year will be specially marked packages of WWP-branded IGA hotdog and hamburger buns. Kraft will again join in with a contribution from water-enhancement displays placed in IGA stores. Kraft brands featured in the beverage shippers include MiO, Crystal Light, Kool-Aid and Country Time.
