Whole Foods Market Brewing Co., a craft brewery located within Whole Foods’ Post Oak store in Houston, will mark the distribution of its first draft beer with tapping events at 10 Houston-area Whole Foods locations, which will simultaneously tap kegs on Aug. 8 at noon.
The first beer available for distribution through Whole Foods’ Houston stores will be Post Oak Pale Ale, a deep golden beer that starts off with an orange marmalade sweetness and rolls into tangerine, grapefruit and tropical tones, according to Whole Foods.
The beer will be distributed to Whole Foods stores throughout Texas beginning Sept. 18.
Post Oak Pale Ale is one of 38 beers produced by the Whole Foods Market Brewing Co.
To date, more than 5,220 gallons of beer have been produced in Houston, and a Whole Foods Market store in San Jose, California, has opened the company’s second onsite brewery.
In other beer news, Whole Foods’ new Green Bay Road store in Evanston, Ill., will feature an exclusive beer brewed by Sketchbook Brewing Co., also located in Evanston. Made from organic malts and hops locally sourced from farms in Wisconsin and Michigan, the B.I.O. Pale Ale will be the first collaborative beer between Whole Foods and Sketchbook.
“This collaboration allows us to combine two things we love: beer and supporting local businesses. We can’t wait to share this exclusive brew from Sketchbook Brewing with friends and neighbors,” said Mike Kilgore, Whole Foods Market Midwest’s associate coordinator for store bar venues, in a statement. “We’ve partnered with local brewers for the last six stores we’ve opened in the Chicago area and are always excited to see what new beers the brew masters create.”
